GYV daha 30 Haziran 1994\u2019deki Dedeman Hotel\u2019deki ilk kurulu\u015f toplant\u0131s\u0131nda b\u00fcy\u00fck bir bo\u015flu\u011fu dolduraca\u011f\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6sterdi. Vakf\u0131n onursal ba\u015fkan\u0131 Fethullah G\u00fclen Hocaefendi, aralar\u0131nda \u00e7ok say\u0131da gazetecinin de bulundu\u011fu kalabal\u0131k bir grubun kar\u015f\u0131s\u0131nda konu\u015fmu\u015f ve burada s\u00f6yledi\u011fi s\u00f6zler geni\u015f yank\u0131 yapm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Hocaefendi Dedeman\u2019da \u201cDemokrasiden d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015f yok\u201d diyerek, hem laik \u00e7evrelerin dikkatini \u00e7ekmi\u015f hem de o g\u00fcne kadar \u0130slam ve demokrasi ili\u015fkisine \u00e7ok yo\u011fun kafa yormam\u0131\u015f olan -birilerinin deyimi ile- \u201c\u0130slami kesimi\u201d silkelemi\u015fti.<\/p>\n

Birlikte, karde\u015f\u00e7e ya\u015faman\u0131n yeni bir i\u015faret fi\u015fe\u011fi gibi alg\u0131lanan bu ilk toplant\u0131dan sonra, Hocaefendi\u2019nin toplumun di\u011fer kesimlerine a\u00e7\u0131lma hamleleri h\u0131zlanarak devam etti. Siyaset, sanat ve spor camias\u0131ndan, ad\u0131 Cemaat\u2019le an\u0131lmas\u0131 m\u00fcmk\u00fcn olmayan isimlerle bir araya geldi. Toplumun hemen her kesimini temsil eden geni\u015f kat\u0131l\u0131ml\u0131 iftarlar d\u00fczenlendi. Gazeteler ziyaret edildi. Tabii Hocaefendi bunlar\u0131 yaparken, kamuoyunda da yo\u011fun bir tart\u0131\u015fma ba\u015flad\u0131. \u201cG\u00fclen ne yapmak istiyordu?\u201d Bu soru haks\u0131z da say\u0131lmazd\u0131. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc Hocaefendi, \u0130slamc\u0131 camia aras\u0131nda tan\u0131nsa da, o g\u00fcne kadar kamuoyunun geni\u015f kesimi taraf\u0131ndan yak\u0131ndan bilinmeyen bir isimdi.<\/p>\n

T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de farkl\u0131 din mensuplar\u0131 da ya\u015f\u0131yordu ve toplumsal bar\u0131\u015f i\u00e7in bu gruplar\u0131n temsilcileriyle de g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015f\u00fclmesi gerekiyordu.<\/p>\n

Hocaefendi o g\u00fcnlerde dinler aras\u0131 diyalog \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131nda ilk ad\u0131m\u0131, sessiz sedas\u0131z bir \u015fekilde atm\u0131\u015f,\u00a0\u0130stanbul Rum Patri\u011fi I. Bartholomeos\u2019la 6 Nisan 1996\u2019da g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015fm\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc.<\/strong>\u00a0Bu tarihi bulu\u015fma beklendi\u011fi gibi b\u00fcy\u00fck ses getirdi. O g\u00fcnlerde Devlet, Ortodoks Patrikhanesi\u2019nden hi\u00e7 ho\u015flanm\u0131yor ve k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fcmsemek i\u00e7in de resmi yaz\u0131\u015fmalarda Fener Rum Patrikhanesi ad\u0131yla an\u0131yordu. D\u00fcnya, Fener Rum Patrikhanesi diye k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fcmseyerek and\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z ve Ey\u00fcp Kaymakaml\u0131\u011f\u0131\u2019yla muhatap etti\u011fimiz Patrik\u2019i ve Patrikhane\u2019yi ek\u00fcmenik olarak kabul ediyordu. Hocaefendinin d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncesine g\u00f6re T\u00fcrkiye, Patrikhane\u2019nin bu imaj\u0131ndan yararlanmal\u0131, kendine ve vatanda\u015flar\u0131na g\u00fcvenmeliydi.<\/p>\n

Hocafendi kendisine y\u00f6neltilen yo\u011fun ele\u015ftirilerin hi\u00e7birini dikkate almayarak Musevi Cemaati liderleri ba\u015fta olmak \u00fczere Katolik ve S\u00fcryani din adamlar\u0131yla da g\u00f6r\u00fc\u015ft\u00fc.<\/p>\n

Vatanda\u015flar\u0131m bunu idrak edeceklerdir. Dost ar\u0131yorsak, bize dost kendimiziz. Kendi kendimizi y\u0131pratmazsak bizim bile\u011fimizi kimse b\u00fckemez. Bizim milletimiz bar\u0131\u015fsever, huzur sever, dirlik iyiliksever y\u00fcce bir millettir. Y\u00fczde 99, 9\u2019unun M\u00fcsl\u00fcman oldu\u011fu milletimizin her ferdi hep bar\u0131\u015f ister. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc M\u00fcsl\u00fcmanl\u0131k bar\u0131\u015f dinidir ve bar\u0131\u015f tavsiye eder. Bar\u0131\u015f i\u00e7inde ya\u015famay\u0131 ba\u015farmak bizim nesillerimizin g\u00f6revidir. Bu \u00f6d\u00fcl\u00fc T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin b\u00f6l\u00fcnmez b\u00fct\u00fcnl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcne, T\u00fcrk milletinin mutlulu\u011funa, bar\u0131\u015f i\u00e7inde ya\u015famas\u0131na verilmi\u015f say\u0131yorum. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc ben T\u00fcrk devletini, milletin birli\u011fini b\u00fct\u00fcnl\u00fc\u011f\u00fcn\u00fc temsil ediyorum. T\u00fcrk milletinin birli\u011fini, dirli\u011fini g\u00fc\u00e7lendirecek bu ak\u015famki gibi hareketlerin hepsinin de yan\u0131nday\u0131m. Meclis bana cumhurba\u015fkanl\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6revini tevdi ettikten sonra \u00fclkenin her k\u00f6\u015fesinin ve her ki\u015fisinin cumhurba\u015fkan\u0131y\u0131m.
